The 2009 Lava Hockey Stick represented another significant step for the technical specifications of MERCIAN composites with lovely graphics.
The CB3 shape of this hockey stick is created from a fibreglass skeleton with Carbon, Kevlar and Basalt (Lava) layers. The Basalt content has been increased to create even greater strength and stiffness the CB3 shape offers great stick turnover and help with flicking, in addition to this, the super stiff construction gives fantastic hitting power.
A further specific characteristic that is revolutionary for the Lava hockey stick is the use of an impregnated resin. Some composite materials are brittle in their natural form, to protect these and increase the durability of M-Tek hockey sticks the resins used have been mixed with POLYETHYLENE particles. This creates a rubberised resin, whilst it cannot be felt, this rubberised top layer gives some impact protection to the materials within the hockey stick. The impregnated resin also has a texture similar to a worn wooden stick, it creates a surface texture that reduces the spin of the ball caused by wet pitches.
The brand new Lava hockey stick with its technology of resin mixed with microscopic rubber balls is bound to attract a lot of interest. This hockey stick has a 25mm low shaft bend & is available in 36.5", light & medium weights.
